Ankara: Said Abdel Razek

Today (Thursday), the Turkish authorities announced the recovery of fugitive Murat Goksal Dalklic, who is responsible for scientific supervision of the construction of one of the collapsed buildings in Hatay, in the south of the country, after he fled to Tajikistan.

Security sources said that Dalklic, who was responsible for the design and scientific supervision of the “Kartobo Building” project in the Beilin neighborhood of Hatay, which collapsed in the earthquakes on February 6, killing 20 of its residents under the rubble, fled to Tajikistan.

She added that the Turkish authorities contacted their counterparts in Tajikistan and requested that he not be allowed to leave the airport, after it was discovered that he had left on a plane from Istanbul airport. Indeed, he was arrested and returned to Istanbul on the same plane, where he was not allowed to disembark.

The Hatay Public Prosecutor’s Office issued an arrest warrant against Dalklic, as part of the ongoing investigations into those involved in building violations that caused the collapse of many buildings during the February 6 earthquakes.

Dalklic was arrested upon his arrival in Istanbul and sent to prison pending investigations and referral to court.

It is noteworthy that the Turkish authorities arrested 203 contractors and those involved in building violations.
