Bayındır Milk Processing Factory, built with the own resources of Izmir Metropolitan Municipality and dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Republic, was designed to encourage production in rural areas and create employment opportunities in line with the understanding expressed by the great leader Mustafa Kemal Atatürk with the words “Every factory is a castle”. President Tunç SoyerWhile coming to the opening of the factory, he was blocked by farmers from Izmir. Mayor Soyer, who came to the factory accompanied by a convoy and flowers, was welcomed with confetti, torches and slogans. Zeybek and dance performances were performed before the opening.
“The masters of our nation; “This factory is yours”
In his speech, Mayor Soyer greeted the farmers with the words “masters of the nation”. Soyer said, “I see that the light in your eyes illuminates our factory brightly. I can read very well the excitement and enthusiasm in each of you. I know this very well. This is not just a factory. This is a castle. And Izmir Metropolitan Municipality did not establish this place. You built this castle. You built it with your hands, your nails, your sweat. Those calloused hands that wake up before dawn and milk milk from white breasts built this place. It was founded by hard-working Anatolian women who sprinkled seeds with their cracked fingers, plowed gardens, and mowed grass. This is the castle of our fathers and grandfathers who fed us without eating, who squeezed the water from stones, and who devoted their lives to the land. This factory is the work of our brave shepherds who walk the mountains of Izmir day and night. We established this factory the same way our ancestors established the Republic. Baking under the sun, sweating, shivering in the cold. But by overcoming the obstacles one by one, by being patient and by believing. Just as a castle is built stone by stone, wall by wall, bastion by bastion, so we built this factory. Know that, as long as you produce, this castle will continue to protect the lands of this country. Masters of our nation; “This factory is yours,” he said.
Mayor Soyer named the factory after farmers
In his speech, Mayor Soyer addressed the producers and asked, “Are you ready to name this factory ‘100th Year Bayındır Milk Processing Factory?'” Accompanied by the applause of the farmers, Mayor Soyer announced the name of the factory.
“We will start the second century with the village institute”
Stating that the 100-year-old Republic has three great meanings, Mayor Soyer continued his words as follows: “Republic means that sovereignty belongs unconditionally to our nation. Our Republic means the liberation of women and the equality of men and women. And Republic means our economic independence. Our ancestors are taking giant steps for the independence of the economy, starting with the Economic Congress held in Izmir. He accomplishes a lot in a short time. He builds factories, expands agriculture, weaves the country with iron nets, and establishes village institutes. By strengthening the power of the people, it increases the power of the country. I would like to give another good news here. We will lay the foundations of the 100th Village Institutes Agricultural School this year and we will start the second century with the village institute. Unfortunately, today, a hundred years later, we are in a period where peasants are forced to leave their ancestral lands, where our farmers are dumping their produce on the roads, and where our youth in the countryside are looking for a job to earn their living in the cities. In short, we are witnessing a sad period in which the masters of the nation are displaced from their homes. We could not remain indifferent to the voices of our land and people in such a period; We are not left. We protected the sweat of our farmers and shepherds. “We stood by our small producers who were crushed under the increasing costs.”
“This castle exists so that our lands can regain freedom”
Drawing attention to the climate crisis in his speech, Mayor Soyer said, “There are now only corn fields in our fertile plains where wheat, fruits and vegetables are produced. We know very well who is behind this production that the government insistently supports. Imperialism now wants to usurp our lands, which they could not occupy with their dirty boots, with their seeds. But they should know better. The people of Izmir will not fall for this trick. Because now there is a Republican castle rising in Izmir. This castle exists so that our lands can be free again. You will see, this castle will bring our local and national seeds back to the soil. It will show all Turkey, from Izmir to the whole world, that a different kind of agriculture is possible. How happy we are that the revolution we started in Izmir by saying ‘A different agriculture is possible’ was immortalized in this castle of the Republic. “There will no longer be a single shepherd in Izmir struggling to make ends meet, a single sheepfold where the light of hope is extinguished, or a single field lacking fertility,” he said.
“We guarantee the food security of millions living in Izmir”
Stating that nationalism cannot be achieved through heroism, Mayor Soyer said, “Loving this country means protecting its mountains, trees and streams. It means keeping the land of this heavenly land alive and protecting the shepherd’s fire in the mountains. It means protecting what is local and national and the core values of this country. This is patriotism for us. In this castle, we guarantee the food security of millions living in Izmir. We produce healthy milk, cheese and yoghurt for our children. We expand the prosperity of Izmir, share it fairly and brotherly, and protect the lands of our country. You have placed the duty of being the Mayor of this city on my chest as a badge of honor. We have been working together, shoulder to shoulder, with the love of Izmir for about five years. We never made excuses on this path. We never got tired. Because those who work with love never get tired. Those who work with love get their power directly from the people. Just like our Great Leader Mustafa Kemal Atatürk. That’s why our way is Mustafa Kemal’s way. Together, we will continue to build the Republican castles of Izmir. We will increase the fertility of this land, inch by inch, step by step. A century later, we will protect the legacy and memory of the republic until the end. We will erect the statue of our Atatürk and the factories of the republic. We will continue to protect the republic without ever turning away from our path or leaving our path. Dear Ata, we will never give up. I promise you; Not a single young person in Izmir will give up on his dreams. The face of farmers, shepherds and producers will always smile. We will not hand over these lands to profiteering gangs and seed monopolies. “Bayındır Milk Factory is our newest Republic work in Izmir,” he said.
“Thank God, we are opening it to both production and employment.”
Bayındır District Governor Emin Kaymak said, “Atatürk started his first move after the War of Independence at the Izmir Economic Congress. The most important event after independence is economic independence. Our region is one of the most special areas in the world. Our most valuable asset here is our farmers. We have an innovative farmer structure that has tried the production of every product in Turkey and broken new ground here. For this project that will improve the products of producers by processing Tunç SoyerI thank you very much. I hope it will grow and make a serious contribution. “I thank everyone who contributed,” he said.
Bayındır Mayor Uğur Demirezen said, “This was the only industrial zoned land established since 1984. Izmir Metropolitan Municipality established a very nice facility here. God bless us, thank God, we are opening it to both production and employment. Thank you, Tunç President. May God increase his blessings. “On behalf of my district, on behalf of the local administrators, I would like to thank you as a person living here,” he said.
“The producer will no longer be crushed under the fist of the industrialist”
Bayındır Furunlu Dairy Cooperative President Hasan Yaşar said, “I would like to thank our President Tunç, who took Atatürk’s words as his duty and built a castle for us farmers. Our President’s determination has been a source of hope for us. This factory will support not only milk producers but the entire sector. “Our producers will no longer be crushed under the fist of industrialists,” he said.
Speaking at the opening, producer Songül President from Tire said, “We are very excited for the opening of this place. I am a young farmer. As a young person, I really enjoy producing. I worked in many sectors, but I loved producing. The most suitable profession for me was farming. I applied for the support of our President for Another Agriculture is Possible. I saw that a municipality supports producers regardless of party. I know that as long as farming is supported, everyone will produce. I can feed my children the healthy products I produce, but now the people of Izmir will also eat the milk obtained from this milk. “If we can make a living, we can make it from this factory,” he said.
President Soyer pressed the button, production started
After the speeches, Mayor Soyer started production at Bayındır Milk Processing Factory by pressing the button.
